I heard once of a parable that had me thinking about the difference between those people who do something with what’s been given to them and those who do nothing and suffer.
There was once a man going on an extended trip. He called his servants together and delegated responsibilities. To one he gave five thousand dollars, to another two thousand, to a third, one thousand, depending on their abilities. Then he left. Right off, the servant went to work and
doubled his master’s investment. The second did the same. But the man with the
single thousand dug a hole and carefully buried his master’s money.
After a long absence the master came back and settled up with the three. The one given five thousand dollars showed him how he had doubled his investment. His master commended him: “Good work! You did well. From now on, be my partner.”
The servant with the two thousand showed how he also had doubled his master’s investment. His master commended him: Good work! You did well. From now on, be may partner.
The servant given one thousand dollars said, “Master, I know you have high standards and hate careless ways, that you demand the best and make no allowances for error. I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound up to the last cent.
The master was furious, “That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest.
“Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this play-it-safe who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness.”
We are each given opportunities. Whatever is our background and where we came from, we are all positioned to succeed.
Why is it some people given a single information can sky rocket to success while the rest on the otherhand having the same information will remain poor?
No one in this world goes too far playing safe. A lot of people have read Rich Dad Poor Dad of Robert Kiyosaki, a lot has played the Cashflow 101, a lot has attended the Wealth Course, a lot has read books on how to become financially free and learn to go into business, but how many really
did something about the wealth of information they got? How many really did take action?
Yesterday, one of our Core Team members told me that her guests don’t want to come back anymore because they don’t want to do the assignments. They said that they just came to learn and the community must allow people to attend even if they were not able to complete the task.
I laughed when I heard about it. Ang pagiging dukha ay hindi sa katayuan kundi pano natin ginagamit ang binigay sa atin na impormasyon.
As one of my favorite writers, T.S. Eliot said, “those who risk going too far will know how far one can go”. How will you know how far you can go and what you can do if you will not take the necessary steps to start transforming your life?
Here are just some Attitudes of Dukha
- Money is not spiritual.
- Money is filthy and dirty.
- Money is evil.
- It’s a sin to have lots of money.
- Only people who cheat have money.
- It takes too much time and effort to be rich.
- Rich people are seldom happy people.
- My friends won’t like me if I am rich or they’d like me only for my money.
- Money goes out far than it comes in.
- Rich people are greedy and dishonest.
How can one notice wealth and abundance when this attitudes gets in the way? With this in the way, how will one notice the opportunities being offered right before their eyes? Definitely, we will simply let opportunities pass by and fail to make use of it.
In life and in any game, no one goes very far playing it safe. Those who make it huge in life are those who are in the court, in the arena, not in the stands, watching. Not everyone wants to be in the court because in the court, you open yourself up to any possible obstacles and challenges, you risk yourself from being hurt, from being booed at, from making mistakes that might jeopardize the entire team. That’s why even in any game those who are in the court can only be counted while those who are in the stands are countless.
When I gave a speech in one of the Universities in Quezon City, one of the students asked me, “ during those times you failed, did you ever think of quitting or giving up? I told her that during those downtimes, yes I entertained giving up in my thoughts but i never consider it as an option. I alreadychose
It’s the same thing in business, no one wants to be in the court because of fear failing, because of fear losing money, because of fear of losing face, because of fear of getting hurt emotionally and financially. Worse, they don’t want to be in the court because of the attitudes of dukha
The thing is, those who are in the court and who risk going too far are those who inherit the earth. This is the reason why we cannot blame if the rich are getting richer and the poor gets getting poorer.
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.
We suffer, because we chose to suffer when the fact is we know what can bring us forth to ending our suffering.
No one has ever passed the Community process without accomplishing all of the tasks. Everyone who passed the Core Team were once “dukha’s” yet chose to put an ending to it. There is one remarkable thing this community does before anyone can become part of the community: that the
aspiring core would do everything he/she can to make use of the information given to him and be generous and sacrificial investors of other people. Instead of burying what’s entrusted to them, they pass it on, double and triple what was invested on them.
This is why in this community, the Core Team members are those who chose to be in the court. The HOW doesn’t matter, its presents itself naturally to us, it is laid down before us towards carrying out our mission because we trust that everyone who passed the process are fully on board with our
mission, they give themselves with full devotion and sacrifice. No summit is too high for people who put their heart and soul to reaching it.
Ang pagiging dukha ay isang malaking insulto sa inihain ng Maykapal sa atin.The core essence of being a human being is stewards of what God has given us. Those who really make it in life are those people who see themselves as stewards of what God has given them. They see that every opportunity to succeed is an honor and privilege from God. As I said in my other blog, they are investors in being, their instinct is to be contributors. They choose to be grateful about what they’ve been given and seek to generously multiply it and multiply what they give to others.
As Emmanuel said so, “you are not a beggar at the table of life, you are an honored guest.” Indeed, your playing dukha does not serve the world.
